How does BMI work

BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. BMI is a key Vital and with Clinicea you get the BMI calculated automatically and this can be tracked as well. Let us see how you can do it.

Pre-requisite

You need to have first created in Tools | Clinical Items | an item which is Named “BMI_“_, where Clinical Section is set to “Vital”, and Datatype is set to “Numeric “.

Go to Patient | Select Patient and open the Patient Medical Chart | Go to the Clinical section- Vitals. Click on the + icon to Add BMI to the Vitals section of the casesheet.

Enter Height and Weight- BMI will get calculated automatically.

Clinicea can handle both the US (lbs) as well as metric system of measurement (kgs). You can also set up a goal and track the BMI against it. For more details take a look at How to set Patient Goals
