How to make your Favourites in EMR

During a Patient Visit, Doctors need to record a Patients Chief Complaints, HPI, Vitals, Medical History, Social History, Family History, Investigations, Rx, Assessments, so on and so forth. However, most Doctors deal with a Bell Curve, where 70-80% of their cases have a common thread to it. In such cases, it will be much quicker to select from a predefined list of favorites, than type.

Let us have a look at how to make your Favorites in EMR by looking at Chief Complaints:

1. Open up the Patient Chart and click on the +button of a particular Clinical Section. Ex: Chief Complaints | Add Chief Complaints section will open on the right-hand side. You can search the list and add as many items required by clicking the +button. You may notice that these are the most common complaints your patients’ are referring to. So you can now make these your favorites by clicking the star icon beside the +button for the Clinical Group. For example, Acne. Add as many Favorites as you like- Crows Feet, Frown lines, Itching, etc.

2. Once you have clicked on the star icon, the color will change to Yellow and the item becomes a Favorite. The next time you click on the +button beside Chief Complaints, you will see Acne, Crows Feet, Frown lines and Itching appearing first on the list under Add Chief Complaints, for quick selection.

3. To remove a favorite, simply click on the star icon again. The color Yellow is removed and this is no more a Favorite.

*This approach to making or removing Favorites is applicable to all Clinical Sections alike*
