Setting Up and Testing SMS Integration in Clinicea

This article outlines the steps to configure and test SMS integration within Clinicea.


Step 1: Configuring the SMS Gateway

  1. Navigate to Tools -> Organization

  1. Select Organization.

  1. Within the Organization details preferences, go to Integration

  1. Then got to SMS Gateway

  1. Choose your SMS provider from the dropdown menu. Options may include SmartSMS, Twilio, or others.

  1. Enter the required credentials provided by your client. Ensure these details are accurate to avoid integration issues.

  1. Click Save to store the gateway configuration.


Step 2: Adding SMS Credit

The process for adding SMS credit varies depending on the client's setup:


  1. Customer has their own custom gateway: For clients with their own custom SMS gateway, a large quantity of SMS credits is usually added. A typical amount might be 1,000,000 credits, but this can be adjusted as needed. Consult with the client to determine the appropriate credit allocation.
  2. Customer using a common sender ID and purchasing credits through Clinicea: For clients utilizing a shared sender ID and purchasing SMS credits through Clinicea, the credit allocation needs to be determined in consultation with support. Contact the Clinicea support team to ascertain the required credit amount.



Step 3: Verifying the Configuration

  1. Sign out and then sign back in to Clinicea. This ensures the changes are properly applied.
  2. Navigate again to **Tools -> Organization **

  1. Select Organization.

  1. Go to the Organization details preferences section and then to Communication.

  1. Verify the configured Gateway Name and the Number of Credits displayed. This confirms the successful integration and credit allocation.



Step 4: Testing the SMS Integration

  1. Select a test patient whose mobile number belongs to the client.


  1. Create an Appointment for that patient. This action will trigger the SMS confirmation message to be sent to the client.

  1. Go to Report -> Search SMS

  1. Locate the generated report. This report will confirm whether the SMS was successfully sent. Check the status of the SMS delivery within the report.


By following these steps, you can effectively set up, configure, and test SMS integration within Clinicea, ensuring smooth communication with patients. Remember to consult with Clinicea support for any specific questions or issues encountered during the process.
