# How to set Categories for an Inventory

An Inventory Item can have multiple categories. One use of categories is to put various medical conditions for which you may prescribe this item. Against each category, you can also set multiple protocols.

**1.** Go to **Inventory** | search and click on Inventory Item from the **Inventory List.**

**2. Inventory Details** will open | either select a Category from the drop-down menu of **Select or Type to add a Category** or manually type in a new Category and click on the **+button** to add a new category to the list and **Save**.
